What is apartheid? It is the policy of keeping African 　1　, and separate 　2　Europeans.
　　They are to be kept separate by not being 　3　to live as citizens with rights in European towns. They 　4　go to European towns to work, but they may not have their families 　5　; they must live in “Bantustans”, the native areas. They are not to 　6　with Europeans by sitting in the same cafes, waiting rooms, compartments of trains, seats in parks, etc.

When they go into European 　14　to work, they are not allowed to do 　15　work; they are hewers of wood and drawers of water, and their wage is about one-seventh of 　16　 a European would earn for the same kind of work.
